SUSPENSION & STEERING

We believe there are certain ways to buy suspension 
parts and have listed what we feel to be the best type of 
components to buy in certain situations.  For example if the 
upper A-frame bushing and/or ball joint is worn out, you are 
better off replacing the whole upper control arm which has 
these parts built into it.  Why?  Because if one is worn the 
other is also and you will be replacing it sooner or later.  
This means you will have to pay for the same labor job twice.  
(Compressing the coil springs, wheel removal, etc.) Besides, 
the cost of the upper control arm is not much more than 
individual components.  The same can be said of buying a lower 
control arm instead of a lower ball joint.  Remember, these 
cars are over thirty years old.  Metal fatigues!  If you still 
have the original suspension it’s shot.

You will also see ads for complete front suspension kits for 
only $299 or thereabouts.  We also offer a complete kit but 
there is a big difference in price.  Why?  Because in the cheap 
kit you get ball joints only, not complete arms, you don’t get 
an idler arm, spring saddles, etc.  Further, all our parts are 
used by us so we know they fit and function properly.  You get 
what you pay for.  As  stated earlier, we only sell parts that 
are good enough for our own cars.

We sell original Ford units that are rebuilt in the USA. They are rebuilt to the original specs and have the correct on-center feel. They all have needle bearings because that is the way Ford built them. We point this out because some claim Ford used bushings instead of needle bearings. Ford simply called the bearings bushings. If you have any doubt, open one up and find out for yourself. Also, all Ford power steering boxes have 16:1 ratios. So, you can spend a lot more for a foreign built unit or you can buy original Ford.
